Mamedica has been named in The Sunday Times 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies 2026, marking a major milestone for medical cannabis access, patient care and digital healthcare in the UK.
Mamedica Recognised at Number 8 in The Sunday Times 100 2026
We are proud to share that Mamedica has been featured at number 8 in The Sunday Times 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies 2026 - the first medical cannabis company to feature in the ranking’s 29-year history - marking a major moment for our clinic, our patients and the future of medical cannabis access in the UK.
The Sunday Times 100 recognises Britain’s fastest-growing privately owned companies. For us, being included in this ranking is especially meaningful because it marks the first time a UK medical cannabis business has featured in one of the country’s most recognised private-company growth rankings.
This recognition extends far beyond Mamedica as a business. It is about the patients who have trusted us with their care, the growing demand for specialist medical cannabis treatment, and the need for clearer, safer and more accessible routes into regulated healthcare. Since launching in 2022, we have supported more than 15,000 patients to date, with more than 12,000 active patients currently receiving care across chronic pain, mental health, hormonal conditions and other long-term health conditions.
What We Are Doing Differently
Mamedica has grown in one of the UK’s most complex and heavily regulated healthcare markets. In this space, trust matters. Education matters. Patient reassurance matters. We have built our clinic around a fully managed digital healthcare pathway, so patients are not left to navigate separate stages of care alone. From eligibility checks and medical record review to specialist consultations, prescribing, pharmacy coordination, secure delivery and ongoing clinical support, our aim is to make the process clearer and more joined up.
We have also taken a different approach to awareness. In an industry where direct product promotion is restricted, we focus on education, stigma reduction and public understanding. Our campaigns are designed to explain the difference between prescribed medical cannabis and non-medical cannabis use, while helping patients understand legality, eligibility and their rights.
This is important because many patients still feel unsure or judged when asking about medical cannabis. We want to help change that. By combining education-led campaigns with clinical governance, we are working to make prescribed medical cannabis more visible, more understood and more trusted as a healthcare treatment pathway.
Pharmedica: The Technology Behind Our Patient Pathway
At the centre of our next phase of growth is Pharmedica, our world-class proprietary digital healthcare platform.Pharmedica has been built to support the prescribing, dispensing and fulfilment of cannabis-based prescription medicines in line with UK regulations. It securely connects patients, clinicians and pharmacists across the care journey, helping make the process clearer, more efficient and more scalable. For patients, this technology is designed to improve access without weakening clinical oversight. It supports a more structured journey from eligibility screening through to specialist consultation, prescription management, dispensing, delivery and follow-up care.
Our long-term ambition is for Pharmedica to support a global iterative rollout of the Mamedica healthcare platform. This means the technology can continue to evolve as patient needs, clinical processes and international medical cannabis markets develop.
Our goal is clear: to lead the charge in making medical cannabis a more reputable, accessible and clinically supported treatment pathway in the UK and beyond.
Jon Robson’s Vision For Medical Cannabis Access
Mamedica was founded by Jon Robson, CEO and founder of Mamedica, with a clear focus on building a regulated clinic, pharmacy and technology platform that improves patient access across the UK. Before founding Mamedica, Jon spent 18 years in financial markets, working with institutions including Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and UBS. That experience in risk, regulation and market structure has helped shape Mamedica’s growth in one of the UK’s most tightly controlled healthcare categories.
Jon recognised that, although medical cannabis has been legal in the UK since 2018, many patients were still struggling to access a legal, clinically credible and scalable service. Mamedica was built to close that access gap, supporting patients nationwide through specialist consultations, prescribing and ongoing care while helping move the conversation around medical cannabis away from stigma and towards regulated healthcare.
“Being included in The Sunday Times 100 shows that medical cannabis is continuing to move into the mainstream. For the first time, a business operating in this space is being recognised alongside some of Britain's fastest-growing private companies, demonstrating that regulated, clinically led medical cannabis providers can deliver meaningful patient outcomes while building trusted, sustainable healthcare businesses. We hope this helps continue the conversation around alternative therapies and the role they can play for patients when conventional treatment routes have failed.”
Why This Matters For Patients And The Future Of Medical Cannabis
Medical cannabis has been legal in the UK since 2018, but many people still do not realise that cannabis-based prescription medicines can be legally prescribed by a specialist doctor when clinically appropriate. We hear from patients who have spent years trying different treatments, managing side effects, searching for answers or feeling unsure whether medical cannabis is even something they are allowed to ask about. For those living with chronic pain, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, hormonal conditions or other long-term symptoms, access often starts with clarity: understanding whether medical cannabis is legal, whether they may be eligible, and how a regulated prescription pathway works.
That is why being named in The Sunday Times 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies 2026 matters. It helps move prescribed medical cannabis further into the mainstream healthcare conversation and shows that the sector is being shaped by patient need, clinical governance and responsible access.
At Mamedica, we want to help change how medical cannabis is understood and accessed in the UK. Our model brings together eligibility screening, specialist consultation, prescribing, dispensing, delivery and ongoing support, helping eligible patients move through one clearer, clinically governed pathway.
Could Medical Cannabis Be An Option For You?
Medical cannabis is legal in the UK when prescribed by an appropriate specialist doctor, but it is not suitable for everyone. Eligibility depends on your condition, medical history and previous treatment experience. At Mamedica, we support eligible patients through specialist consultations, prescribing and ongoing care within a regulated UK healthcare pathway.
If conventional treatments have not provided suitable relief, you can explore whether medical cannabis may be appropriate for you.
